The VASA's warm flex design has stiffer tip and tail sections than cold flex skis to help break suction of dense/wet snow. The VASA Race uses the World Cup Red Cheetah Race Profile and the Index 5000 base, but trades out the No-Mex core for the Mex-Cell core which uses a No-Mex insert with an Ultra High Densolite Acrylic core.
Our measurements found the VASA 190cm weighing in at 645 grams, or 22.8 ounces, per unmounted ski as opposed to 515 grams, or 18.2 ounces, for the World Cup. A single 172cm VASA weighed in at 529gr or 18.7 ounces.
Although we could feel the increase in weight, the quickness, dynamics and feel of the ski was similar to the World Cup.
This ski is a fantastic value and it should be seriously considered by value-minded performance skiers, citizen racers, and even high-level racers who are looking for a less expensive racing/training ski that does not compromise ski characteristics and speed.

The VASA Race Skate comes in two flexes (soft & hard). We carry both flexes to give us the best possibility of an accurate fit. These are general ski length/skier weight ranges to give you an idea on sizing this particular ski. We have found that our in-house flex testing is more meaningful than whether a ski is a "soft" or "hard" flex. We flex test every pair of skis to assure you an accurate fit.
