Toko Glide Wax  (products listed below)

Introduction:
Toko Glide Wax is organized with a simple color coded system; Yellow, Red and Blue. Each color is calibrated to a specific snow temperature range, and each color has a hydrocarbon, low fluoro, high fluoro and pure fluoro product in every range.

Additionally, TOKO offers specialty waxes that are formulated to accomplish specific tasks. Nordlite Powder is a hydrocarbon powder designed for very cold temperatures. It mixes well with all colors, and it is a great additive to “cool” and “harden” the wax of the day. The Molybdenum waxes or “moly” waxes are grey in color and they are offered in hydrocarbon, low fluoro and high fluoro waxes. They are used for coarse, transformed snow, man-made snow, dirty snow, cold anti-static applications, and also for ski base preparation.

Toko Tips:
Toko Colors mix very well together and mixtures offer great range, which can come in handy when you are skiing trails with a mixture of sun and shade, and/or elevation changes. Here are some proven examples:

In dry snow areas like the Rocky Mountains – cold clear nights with air temperatures in the single digits (F) and daytime air temperatures expected to rise to the high teens or low 20’s. Toko LF Red and Blue mixed evenly is super fast and offers great range. We call this combo the ‘West Yellowstone Special” because this combo works so well and so often down there. The HF combo works just as well in higher humidity regions like the mid-west or New England.

For sunny days or higher humidity days with clean, new snow when the overnight lows have been in the teens and daytime highs are expected to be around freezing – in this situation the snow temperature will slowly rise through the twenties and water content will become apparent. HF Red and Yellow mixed is rocket-fast. For more cost effective speed, HF Red mixed with LF Yellow works almost as well and LF Red/Yellow provides good glide as well.

Nordlite Powder – mix with Toko Blue in all conditions under 10 degrees F. But it can also be used to extend the range of all colored waxes. One trick with cold, dry snow that is expected to warm up fast due to sunny warm daytime temps. Is to mix Nordlite with HF Yellow – the Nordlite is effective against the sharp cold snow crystals and the Yellow provides the speed when the snow softens – this combo has been a proven winner at the Boulder Mountain Tour.

A proven Birkie application for cold, single digit weather (in higher humidity areas)– mix Nordlite with HF Blue and finish with Jetstream Blue – classic skiers were out-gliding skaters with this combo!

Play around and experiment – you will find some great options for your local conditions. As an example, I like to add a little HF crayoned on S3 or LF waxes to add a little “juice” to a training, or a free-ski, wax application.
